The MVP International girls’ lacrosse team enjoyed sights and sounds of Dublin

WASHINGTON – They went unbeaten and won the championship in their division of play while in Ireland.
But the MVP International girls’ lacrosse team, made up of players from several high schools in Virginia, also enjoyed their time away from the pitch during a 10-day trip to Ireland earlier this month.
“We spent two days in Dublin even before we played lacrosse,” said Tim Prosser, one of the two coaches for the USA MVP team. “We did a long walking tour of Dublin – we went through almost the entire city and saw Trinity College.”
But that was not all for the group of 39 on the trip.
“Two of the highlights was going up to the Cliffs of Moher – what a beautiful sight that was,” Prosser said. “And we went to a castle and they put on a program of traditional Irish song and dance.”
MVP International went 9-0 as part of a festival that was held in conjunction with the 21U world championship for men, also held in Limerick.
“It was such a great bonding experience. A lot of the girls play on a club team together,” he added. “They were well-bonded, but now they are cemented in. Spending 10 days with these girls, there were no complaints.”
While at the tournament, the MVP team stayed at the Limerick Strand Hotel.
It was the first MVP tour for Prosser, who grew up in upstate New York. “It was great. I took my wife, Kellie, along and we kept saying our great it was,” he said. “MVP had activities planned; we didn’t have to do anything. We just had to follow the schedule and get on the bus.”
Prosser is the girls’ lacrosse coach at Robinson High in Fairfax, Virginia. He shared coaching duties in Ireland with TJ Finnerty, the new girls’ lacrosse coach at the Flint High School in Oakton, Virginia. Both are coaches with Virginia One Girls Lacrosse of which nearly every MVP player is involved with.
The MVP roster for the trip to Ireland: middies Natalie Anderson and Madelyn Arca; attack Summer Eastman, Erin Soule, Ann Suddarth, Claire Varley, Mia Young, Julia Lundy, Emma Lundy, and Ashlynn Maher; defenders Caleigh Jones and Ellen Suddarth; and goalies Bristol Sine and Hannah Smith.
They represent these Northern Virginia high schools: Lake Braddock (five players), Robinson (four), Bishop O’Connell (three) in Arlington, and one each from West Springfield and W.T. Woodson, both in Fairfax County.
Much of the legwork before the trip was done by Anthony Neville, who is from the Cork area of Ireland and has been involved in lacrosse and hosting trips for several years.
“The trip was phenomenal. The girls went 9-0 in the Lacrosse Festival and won the Championship! While we were there, we were able to see the Cliff of Moher, do a walking tour of Dublin and Limerick, participate in a Gaelic games experience and we got to see the U21 USA Lacrosse team win the Gold Medal at the World Lacrosse Championships,” said Matt Wojciechowski, the Regional Enrollment Coordinator for MVP International.
